Twitter is working on a feature called Coins, which will allow users to support creators on the social network. Or this is what we have been able to learn thanks to the engineer Jane Manchun Wong, who managed to see the partially finished feature in action.
“Coins allow you to support creators who tweet great content. Unused coins are saved in your balance“, says a notice on the Coins purchase screen, a screenshot obtained by Wong and that you have in the tweet below.
Wong also tweeted a screenshot of the Coins menu that takes the user to the purchase screenas well as the list of Twitter Awards that you can send to other users, ranging from “1 Mind Blown”, which is equal to one coin, to “1 Gold!”, which is equal to 5,000 coins.
Wong claims that the Twitter Coins can be purchased through Stripe on the web. Cryptocurrency is not mentioned anywhere, even though it Elon Muskits CEO, has long confessed his love for the Doge cryptocurrency.
Elon Musk’s possible nod to crypto that many expected
However, the Stripe platform accepts cryptocurrency as a form of payment, so it is possible that users can buy Twitter Coins with cryptocurrency, something that many users have been waiting for months. Especially when Elon Musk announced that he was buying Twitter.
Unfortunately for investors in the crypto world, neither Twitter nor Elon Musk have made any move in that direction. Even this new tool, Twitter Coins, would be too small a nod to have any consequences.
Since taking over as CEO, Elon Musk has been testing new ideas and proposing changes. Almost all of them disastrous for the blue bird’s social network. I hope you have luck in the future, with new tools and options that improve the experience on the platform.
