This app gave you an unfair advantage in VALORANT and that’s why Riot will kill it

This is Recon Bolt

VALORANT It is a game with a very intense competitive scene and there are some who are willing to break the rules in order to get some kind of advantage. In recent months, an application that allowed you to get an unfair advantage became popular, but thanks to Riot Games this tool has its hours counted.

We are talking about Recon Bolt, an application developed by Julian Dunskus that debuted in October 2022. It is software that was born to give you statistics and other data, but that evolved to give you the option to install certain characters from your phone before that it is possible to do it on PC.

Riot Games did not like the above, so the company sent a cease and desist letter to Dunskus to remove it. This is why the application will stop operating as of July 20.

“It’s hard to describe how disappointed I am that things have turned out this way, but Riot has blocked all attempts on my part to have a conversation about this and find a way forward together,” Dunskus wrote.

At the moment it is unknown exactly why Riot Games made this decision. However, it is most likely that Recon Bolt was accessing game information beyond what is allowed by the official API of VALORANT. With this you would be breaking the rules and even players who are caught using them could be banned.

What did you think of Riot Games’ way of acting? Do you think it was necessary to close this application or that another solution would have been better? Tell us in the comments.
