At least thirteen people have died and 29 more have been injured when a bus carrying a traditional music and dance group plunged into a ravine near the city of Mumbai.
Among the deceased are three minors who were traveling on the Dhol-Tasha-Zaanj group bus. A total of 42 people were traveling in the vehicle and it covered the distance that separates the city of Pune from Bombay, reports Indian television NDTV.
The ravine through which the bus plunged at about 4:15 in the morning was about 90 meters and is located in the mountainous region of Bor Ghat, about 70 kilometers from Mumbai.
The chief minister of the state of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, has already conveyed his condolences and has announced compensation of 500,000 rupees (about 5,500 euros) to the family of each of the fatalities. The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has also announced 200,000 rupees (2,200 euros) in compensation for each deceased and 50,000 (550 euros) for each injured person.
