A total of thirteen alleged members of the Islamic State have been arrested in operations in various parts of Türkiye, as announced by the Turkish Interior Minister, Ali Yerlikaya.
Specifically, 23 arrests have been made in the provinces of Manisa and Izmir, in the west of the country, and in Adana, in the south, of which thirteen have resulted in arrests, according to Yerlikaya, quoted by the newspaper ‘Daily. Sabah’.
They are accused of belonging to the Islamic State terrorist organization and of preparing attacks with weapons on behalf of a terrorist group, he noted. The other ten arrested have been released on parole.
During the year 2024, 943 suspected members of the Islamic State were arrested and attempts to recruit, finance and logistical support the group have been frustrated.
