This problem is linked to the situation experienced in other sectors of Bogotá regarding waste management. In fact, in a presentation made to the Bogotá Council, the District indicated that there are close to 700 critical points for clandestine garbage dumping.

In some areas such as El Codito, in the town of Usaquén, you can see boxes, rotten fruit, mattresses and even furniture around the road where public transport travels. In other points, such as the Boyacá Avenue pipe, the scene is not so different, since debris and other waste adorn the place.

Councilors have also highlighted this critical situation, as is the case of Diana Diago. The councilor has pointed out that it is worrying that Bogota residents have to put up with bad odors in their surroundings, due to the lack of forceful strategies on the part of the district administration.

“We have been in this government for almost five months and we see no action or solution. Citizens are asking for forcefulness, not more warm water wipes,” Diago mentioned.
