Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky warned both Russian troops and their Ukrainian collaborators on Monday that they “only have” the option of leaving Ukraine or surrendering, alluding to the counteroffensive carried out in the northeast of the country, thus “liberating” territory on which Russia was previously located.
“We warn that Russian soldiers in Ukraine have only two options: flee our land or surrender. Collaborators have similar options: either they try to escape — and it remains to be seen whether Russia lets them enter its territory — or they will be sentenced to death.” according to current legislation,” Zelensky said in his evening speech.
In this regard, the Ukrainian president has announced that the Ukrainian troops are maintaining their positions in the Kharkov region, where Russian forces were located until recently.
Still, the Ukrainian president thanked the country’s National Police for “quickly restoring” law and order in the “newly liberated” territory.
He also thanked the Ukrainian security forces for their “remarkable efficiency” in carrying out their work.
“I cannot reveal all the details, but thanks to the Ukrainian Security Service, we are now sure that the occupiers will not have any foothold on Ukrainian soil,” Zelensky added.
