Geeknetic manages to reach 6.7 GHz on a 4-core AMD EPYC 4124P with an AM5 B650 motherboard for Ryzen 1 processors

AMD dedicated server processors, the EPYC 4004have launched with a AM5 socket like the recently released ones Ryzen 9000 SeriesThese processors feature CPU configurations of 4, 8, 12 and 16 cores different from the Ryzen home series. One user has picked up one of these processors in its lowest core configuration, 4 cores and 8 threadsand has made overclock taking it almost to the 6.7 GHz.

This user has used a AMD EPYC 4124Pa processor with AM5 socket that has 4 cores and 8 threads. This processor has been installed on an AMD board for home users, the usual ones we find with X670 chipset, although it has had to use a customized BIOS. As a coolant it has used liquid nitrogen with which it has managed to keep the 4 cores at temperature for reach up to 6.66 GHz on all of them.

This speed has significantly improved the frequency at which this processor works, which is “only” 3.8 GHz, adding with overclock almost 3 GHz more speed. It seems that this type of overclocking is outside of AMD's official support, as some kind of modified BIOS is being used that gives access to the overclocking capabilities of this EPYC series. We will see if they can carry out some tests soon. with other more powerful referencesas the EPYC 4004 is available in configurations of up to 16 cores.
