The body of an American tourist was found this Sunday on a beach on the Greek island of Mathrakiin the region of Corfu, Greece. The man had been missing since last week and it was a tourist who found his body.
The 55-year-old American disappeared on Tuesday, although his friends did not notify the authorities until Thursday. It was then that the search services began operations, according to the Greek newspaper Ekathimerini. The last time he was seen he was in a cafeteria accompanied by two women, who are no longer on the island. The victim’s information is unknown.
The authorities have already announced that they will perform an autopsy. This is the third death of a tourist in Greek territory in recent weeks. On June 9, the body of British television presenter Michael Mosley was found on the island of Symi. They found his body in a rocky area of a mountain where he was hiking. A few weeks ago a Dutch tourist also died on the island of Samos.
This past Friday, the disappearance of two French tourists aged 64 and 73 in Sikinos was also reported. They both left their hotel to meet and nothing is known about them.
On the island of Amorgos, authorities are still searching for a 59-year-old tourist who has disappeared since last Tuesday, when he decided to go on a hike in a mountain with high temperatures.
