(Cnn in Spanish) — The Peruvian authorities found a pre-Hispanic mummy in a bag belonging to a delivery person, the Peruvian news agency ANDINA reported on Monday.
According to the authorities, the pre-Hispanic mummy is between 600 and 800 years old and was found in the Peruvian region of Puno, near Bolivia.
Through a statement, the Ministry of Culture specified that the remains, classified as a national cultural asset, were identified as that of a mummified adult man, presumably from the eastern area of Puno.
The mummy is now in the custody of the Ministry of Culture.
