The discovery of a World War II bomb has forced the establishment of a exclusion zone of about 500 meters in Berlin, which according to the Police affects some 12,000 people.
The artifact was located during some works in the district of Friedrichshain. The authorities have mobilized to deactivate it and avoid risks, but at first they have ordered the population to leave the area.
There could be up to 12,000 people in the exclusion zone and it will take time”, explained a police spokeswoman. The evacuees have the possibility of moving to the Mercedes-Benz Arena, enabled as a temporary shelter.

These types of situations are very common in Germany. Most of the time they are located without causing damage, but in others they explode and cause injuries.
Two dead in the Solomon Islands
This was the case last December in Munich, where three people were injured after a World War II bomb exploded while work was being done on a train station. Rail traffic was interrupted as a result of the explosion and security forces cordoned off the area.
A couple of months earlier, in the Solomon Islands, two people died and two others were seriously injured by accidentally exploding a World War II bomb in Honiara, the capital, where thousands of active and unexploded explosives from that war period are still buried.
fatalities, a father and his son, were together with their family around a campfire when this device that was apparently buried in the ground and was activated by the fire exploded.
