Canberra airport has been evacuated this Sunday after shots were heard in the check-in hall, according to the authorities.
The Police have reported that they received notice that shots were being fired in the terminal building at around 1:30 p.m. local time (5:30 a.m. Spanish peninsular time).
As the newspaper ‘The Sydney Morning Herald’ has learned, the agents have arrested a person and have seized the firearm. In addition, no injuries have been reported.
The authorities have evacuated the terminal as a precautionary measure and have asked the public not to attend the airport at this time, despite the fact that the situation is under control.
The airline staff have informed the relatives that the passengers who were inside the plane when the building was evacuated will remain on the aircraft, according to what the aforementioned newspaper has learned.
A police investigation is currently underway.
