The manager of the Adaptation Fund, Raquel Garavito Chapaval, reported that during the government of President Iván Duque, the Entity delivered works throughout the national territory for $2.3 billion, with which they were impacted 5 million people qthat had been affected by the ‘winter wave’ caused by the ‘La Niña’ phenomenon. In this four-year period, the Fund executed 573 projects in 698 municipalities in 32 departments of the country.
“Thanks to a rigorous monitoring of the works and the management of resources, we were able to unblock, reactivate and deliver these projects, and leave works contracted for $723,690 million, which adds up to a total investment of more than $3 billion”, explained the manager Garavito Chapaval.
He added that, during the last four years, the completion progress of the financed projects was significant go from 73.7% in 2018 to 82% in July 2021, and later to 90.1% at the closing of the Government.
“This is achieved thanks to the implementation of actions carried out with the regions, in an articulated work with local authorities and citizens,” he added.
Between August 2018 and 2022, the Fund delivered 10,870 homes in 211 municipalities of 23 departments, for a value of $649 billion, with which the living conditions of 52,000 people affected by climate change and who now have their own homes were improved. (Includes 1,468 homes in Jarillón de Cali and 328 in Gramalote).
