MADRID Dec. 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, took direct aim this Sunday at the Houthis who govern much of Yemen and who continue to launch rockets against Israeli territory in a speech in which he warned that “they are a threat to the world order.”

“We are going to act against the Houthis just as we have acted forcefully against the terrorist arms of the evil axis of Iran,” he stated in a video published on social networks after the meeting of the Security Cabinet of the Israeli Government.

Netanyahu has further warned that Israel is not alone against the Houthis because “the United States and other countries, like us, see the Houthis as a threat not only to global maritime traffic, but also to world order.”

The president took the opportunity to remind the Israeli population of the importance of following the recommendations of the Home Front Command of the Armed Forces after a Houthi projectile hit a park in Tel Aviv on Saturday. Shortly afterward, Israel bombed Houthi targets in Yemen, although it was an attack that had been planned for weeks.

Netanyahu has explained that the response against the Houthis may take time to materialize, but the results “will be the same” as those of other campaigns such as that of Hamas in Gaza or that of Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The Houthis have launched more than 200 missiles and 170 drones against Israeli territory in the last year, according to data from the Israeli Armed Forces. The vast majority did not reach Israel or were intercepted by Israeli and allied defenses.
