(See: Coffee production in Colombia closed 2022 at 11.1 million bags).
In the committee you participated 15 top trade union representatives and the Ministers of Finance and Public Credit; Agriculture and Rural Development; Commerce, Industry and Tourism; and the National Director of Planning, as representatives of the national Government.
“This committee is in charge of setting the course of the country’s coffee policy, which includes defining the profile of those who aspire to lead the FNC, all in line with the union’s own statutes, according to which the general manager is appointed by the National Congress of Coffee Growers from a short list also approved by the national committee“, reported the FNC.
Jose Antonio Ocampo, Minister of Finance, said that for the manager of the FNC they are looking for a person with extensive managerial experience, including trade
international.

“The manager must have high-level management experience of at least a decade in the public or private sector. And I want to be clear that I see no other way to advance in this process than through consensusOcampo said.
The minister added that they want a manager who joins, because they don’t want, “under no circumstances, that moments return that did so much damage to the coffee growers, the Federation and the country”.
Jorge Alberto Posada, President of the Steering Committee of the FNC, commented, for his part, that the new manager of the entity will be the one of the centenary. And about the profile he said that they need me to have “domestic and global vision to face the national and international challenges that lie ahead and have the ability to lead the sustainability and prosperity of coffee-growing families“.

In 2027, the National Federation of Coffee Growers will be 100 years old.
As reported by the FNC, from this Wednesday the call will be open for those who want to run the entity. From the candidates, the FNC committee will choose a shortlist.
Of course, it is already being talked about some names that could make up that list.
One of them is the Felipe Robayo, who served as commercial manager of the FNC and who has the support of the coffee growers of Nariño and Cauca.
(See: This is how the agricultural sector points to greater sustainability).
The coffee growers in those two areas have already sent their letters of support to Robayo.
Another name that sounds is that of Maria Claudia Lacouture, current director of the Colombian American Chamber (AmCham), president of the Aliadas union and former Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism.
The new manager will replace Roberto Vélez Vallejo, who was in charge of the FNC until December 2022.
