If we talk about employability and good salaries in Spain, the world of programming is at the top. According to the Manfred’s latest report, the salaries of Spanish developers are experiencing a boomalthough with important differences depending on the specialty and role.

For those who arrive new, the news is not negative at all. A junior programmer in Spain can expect to earn between 24,000 and 30,000 euros per year. It’s not bad at all to start with and the best thing is that things get better with experience. Developers with a few years in the sector see their salaries skyrocket to 40,000 or even 50,000 euros per year.

On the other hand, senior programmers are in another league. With more than five years of experience, it is not unusual to see salaries that are around 60,000 euros, although the issue of specialization is what perhaps marks these differences the most.

Full-stack developers, the code all-rounders, tend to take a bigger share of the pie. Its versatility is highly valued by companies, which translates into salaries that can easily exceed 50,000 euros per year.

On the other hand, experts in artificial intelligence and machine learning are living a golden age. The demand for these profiles is so high that their salaries can approach, and even exceed, 60,000 euros per year and, the truth is, it is not surprising.

A curious fact is the increase in demand for profiles specialized in cybersecurity. With cyberattacks on the rise, companies are willing to pay handsomely for experts to protect their systems and data. These professionals can earn between 50,000 and 70,000 euros annually, depending on their level of experience.

The report also points out a fairly clear trend that is well known to many: the rise of “digital nomads” in the sector.. More and more Spanish programmers are choosing to work for foreign companies remotely, which allows them to access higher salaries without having to leave their homes.

However, not everything is rosy. The study warns about the gender pay gap that still exists in the sector. Although efforts are being made to reduce it and are noticeable, female programmers still earn, on average, 10-15% less than their male counterparts in similar positions.
