These are the 14 best games that have been presented at the Summer Game Fest 2024

The PC version of 'GTA VI' is not "written in stone"according to Rockstar, who say they will be "where the consumer is"

Like every year, Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest kicks off the season, with an in-depth look at everything to come next year. Just as he promised, there has been no ‘GTA VI’, there has been no avalanche of super announcements, but there have been a few very juicy advances for the future. This is the best of the best of this E3 substitute that the Summer Game Fest has become.

LEGO Horizon Adventures

One of the exclusive Playstation franchises, the Horizon, receives an unprecedented LEGO treatment that gives it the humor and referential shamelessness typical of the toy franchise. Multiplayer and all the skin configuration options and building possibilities you would expect in a LEGO game. It comes out this Christmas for PS5, PC and, surprise, Nintendo Switch.

No More Room in Hell 2

Pure first-person action in an apocalyptic world full of zombies and threatening the fearsome permadeath. 8 players will be able to embark on exploring and clearing what this trailer has promised will be huge, highly replayable maps. We will be able to see how sharp these dead people’s teeth are on Halloween this year.

Harry Potter Quidditch Champions

It was clear that Warner was going to continue squeezing one of its most profitable franchises, this time with what it appropriately did not include in its best-selling Harry Potter title: Quidditch competitions. A clearly medium-sized title, but one that will satisfy the desires of fans of championships of this kind of mix of rugby, tennis and baseball. It arrives on September 3.

Civilization VII

Although it had already been leaked previously, the impact of this strategy myth has been the same: it will arrive on PC and consoles in 2025, and Sid Meier himself has announced that this August the first images of gameplay of the game. It’s been eight years since ‘Civilization VI’, so expectations are very high for this new installment of the most important and best-selling strategy game of all time.

Black Myth Wukong

August 20, just around the corner, is the date of this highly anticipated game that takes up the legend of the Monkey King and the Journey to the West that already inspired ‘Dragon Ball’. This game from the Chinese studio Game Science will arrive on PS5 and PC, and later on Xbox. The preview has been as spectacular as everything we have been seeing for months about this game, and now we can only hope that the gameplay lives up to its monumental graphics.

Once Human

A survival open world that we have been seeing things about since 2022, although when it really started to attract attention was at the end of 2023, when it started showing betas. China has been the shadow protagonist of the event, because this game also comes from there, and its arrival is announced for July 9. An alien creature, Stardust, has infected humans, but we, as metahumans, survive the contamination and can use its power against it.

Blumhouse

We were all expecting some announcement from Blumhouse, but the popular horror producer, creator of hits like ‘Paranormal Activity’, ‘Insidious’ or ‘M3gan’, has come out with six games that range from abstract first-person horror to survival indie with tributes to the legendary nineties, passing through a somewhat more relaxed pixelated simulator. All within strictly independent codes and aesthetics: it seems that Blumhouse is open to experimenting with the genre, which is to be appreciated.

Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers Rita’s Rewind

It may not be the most spectacular of the games presented, but it is one that we guarantee that we will play from day one. The Power Rangers, perfect characters to star in an old-fashioned street brawler, bring us one full of color, pixel explosions, intermediate phases a la ‘Space Harrier’… the truth is, we don’t know what more we could ask for.

Slitterhead

An action and adventure game set in the streets of a typical Asian city lit by neon, but full of monsters. These beasts, precisely, are known as “Slitterheads” and can hide behind the appearance of a human. The objective? Put ourselves in the shoes of “Hyoki” and eliminate them, in what seems like a very interesting body transfer mechanic. We will see this title arrive on PlayStation, Xbox and PC on November 8.

Sonic X Shadow Generations

The remaster of this cult title within the 2011 Sonic franchise will arrive on October 25, in a year that seems to give prominence to the antihero Shadow thanks to his participation in the film ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’. Sega speaks of the game’s content like this: “renewed versions of the iconic 2D and 3D phases, which bring visual improvements and additional content”, and the most interesting: an unpublished episode starring Shadow.

Dune: Awakening

Frank Herbert’s desert world that captivated us with the recent films ‘Dune’ and ‘Dune: Part 2’ is materialized in this promising open-world survival MMO. And we are not talking about just any scenario, but about the most dangerous planet in the universe. Its creators have shown us a new trailer and told us that it will come to PC (via Steam), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

Alan Wake II – Night Springs

Today, June 8, you can play ‘Night Springs’, the expansion of ‘Alan Wake II’ with which Remedy has promised three new chapters starring as many characters very beloved by fans. It focuses on the fictional television show that appeared in the first game, where these transformed versions of themselves will be seen. The expansion will include new mechanics to expand the game’s gameplay and, of course, new enemies.

FromSoftware has done it again: the Elden Ring DLC is on par with the main game, but with a somewhat smaller map

Enotria: The Last Song

We will have to wait until September 18 to play this title developed by the Italians at Jyamma Games on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. However, we can now savor this promising work with a demo and an overwhelming trailer published a few minutes ago. We are faced with an action RPG set in a fantasy world in which we will have to defeat our enemies in an environment full of Italian culture.

Monster Hunter Wilds

At this year’s Summer Game Fest we saw the second trailer for ‘Monster Hunter Wilds’, a new look at a Capcom game that we are getting to know little by little. Are you ready to embark on a hunting trip among endearing creatures and sandworms in a desert? If so, he points out that in 2025 this game will arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
