“There is no justice in Romania”

25 Jan. () –

The former boxer and ‘streamer’ Andrew Tate has assured this Wednesday that there is no evidence against him as he is investigated in Romania for alleged criminal organization and human trafficking and has defended that “justice does not exist” in the country shortly before being interrogated by a police unit specializing in organized crime.

Tate, however, has insisted that his case is “hollow” despite the fact that he remains in custody along with his brother Tristan, who has also been accused of rape and has insisted for his part that there is no evidence against him either.

The Police have so far not filed charges against either of the two brothers, who have been detained since December 29. However, last week a judge decided to extend the detention period until February 27 while the investigations progress.

The Prosecutor’s Office accuses them of recruiting victims who were taken to various properties on the outskirts of the Romanian capital, Bucharest, where they were sexually exploited and forced to create pornographic content. Both have denied the accusations.

The arrest of two suspects, a former police officer and Andrew Tate’s girlfriend, has also been extended, according to the Romanian news agency Agerpres. All of them are suspected of forming an organized criminal group to sexually exploit women.

Tate’s arrest came after he posted a video on social media in which he responded to a taunt by young environmental activist Greta Thunberg while eating pizza from a popular Romanian brand.

The appearance of this pizza box in the video made his whereabouts clear, which allowed the authorities of the European country to speed up the case and finally break into the place where he was staying.
