amd will launch its new processors with Zen 5 cores coming soonit is said that they are already working with these new CPUs that possibly we can see this same year. But these Zen 5 cores introduce new features in terms of performance compared to the current Zen 4, something to be expected. One of these novelties is regarding the AVX-512 workloads with a higher performancethis is possible thanks to a 512-bit FPU.

According to see us at TechPowerUPthis is one of the advantages of these Zen 5 cores compared to the Zen 4. The current Zen 4 use a dual 256 FPU for AVX-512 workloads, while the Zen 5 has a true 512-bit FPU. This FPU makes the performance in 512-bit instructions higher than that used by Zen 4, which translates into up to 40% more performance with these Zen 5 in AVX or VNNI instructions commonly used by the Artificial intelligence.

But in order to use this 512-bit FPU, AMD has also made changes to the components that carry data to this 512-bit FPU. The capacity of the L1 cache has been increased, which has gone from 32 KB in Zen 4 to 48 KB in Zen 5, this is an increase of 50%. It has also increased the integer execution channel from 8 in Zen 4 to 10 in Zen 5 and latency reduced by 1 cycle.
