The 18-year-old girl who was arrested after finding the body of her newborn baby after an unassisted home birth in Valencia de Don Juan, in León, has already been placed in provisional prison, as EL ESPAÑOL has been able to confirm – Noticias de Castilla y Lion.
According to the sources consulted by this newspaper, the young woman has been in the admissions department of the Villahierro penitentiary since yesterday. Furthermore, as is usually the case in these cases, she is constantly accompanied, as established by the anti-suicide protocol.
It should be remembered that the young woman was brought to justice this past Monday after being held in police custody for a week as a result of the severe bleeding she suffered as a result of childbirth.
The facts
It all goes back to last Monday, May 27, when the young woman was admitted to the León Hospital with serious bleeding problems and visible symptoms of having given birth. At this time, the center’s doctors notified the National Police, who questioned the now detained woman and later went with the Civil Guard to Valencia de Don Juan, where the family home was located.
It was there, at the home, where the agents found the lifeless body of the newborn baby inside a bag and in the young woman’s room. After being discharged from the hospital after spending a week in police custody, the young woman was brought into court on Monday.
Once she had gone through the interrogation before the judge, the latter decreed the provisional detention of the 18-year-old girl.
