SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, 20 Jul. () –
The regional minister for Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, held a meeting this week with the vice president of Purchasing and Supply Chain of Stellantis in Europe, Yann Martin, to whom she requested that Galician suppliers be taken into account in future tenders of the company, especially those linked to the new STLA Small platform.
The meeting, which was called to inform Stellantis about the aid programme for automotive suppliers approved by the Xunta, was also attended by the delegate for Purchases of Stellantis in the Iberian Peninsula, Luis Lozano; the president and the manager of the Automotive Cluster of Galicia (Ceaga), Patricia Moreira and Alberto Cominges, respectively; and the general secretary of Industry, Nicolás Vázquez.
As reported by the regional department on Saturday, Lorenzana thanked Stellantis for its “commitment” to the entire components industry in Galicia, “performing a fundamental role as a driving company.”
“The automotive industry in Galicia is a benchmark and must remain so, so joint work between the Xunta and the entire value chain is essential for the good health of the sector, so that it becomes increasingly innovative and competitive,” he said.
In this context, he pointed out that the Galician Government’s support for the sector is “firm” and is materialized through different programs, training plans and aid, both to Stellantis and to the supplier companies. In fact, he explained that this week the draft of the master plan designed for the sector was approved and was already sent to the economic and social agents for their comments and contributions.
For CEAGA President Patricia Moreira, this first meeting “is an opportunity to defend the competitiveness of Galician automotive suppliers and to ensure that they are taken into account by the automotive group.”
“We greatly appreciate having this opportunity and we are fully confident that the current competitiveness of our industry will be further strengthened with this aid plan, which will allow us to automate, robotize, modernize and reactivate our industrial apparatus,” he stressed.
