The children of the Peruvian Nobel Prize for Literature Mario Vargas Llosa reported on Monday that the writer is hospitalized after contracting coronavirus.
In 2022 the author of ‘The city and the Dogs’ he overcame a first contagion of COVID-19 that forced him to be admitted to a clinic in Madrid.
“He is being treated by excellent professionals and accompanied by his family. We ask the media to respect his privacy and ours, ”said her daughter Morgana Vargas Llosa in a message on her official Twitter account that she signed along with her brothers Álvaro and Gonzalo.
The 87-year-old novelist lives most of the time in Madrid -where he has been hospitalized since Saturday-, although he also has a residence in the Peruvian capital.
Vargas Llosa was born in the Peruvian city of Arequipa in 1936 and won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2010.
