Heavy rains stemming from the worst storms ever recorded in Pakistan’s history have killed hundreds of people and left dozens more affected and marooned in remote areas of the South Asian nation.
The rescue teams have used Army helicopters and boats throughout these days to try to reach nearly 50,000 families abandoned to their fate in the province of Baluchistan after the collapse of roads and bridges, according to the regional Minister of the Interior. , Zia Langov.
Heavy monsoon rains have hit Baluchistan especially, and specifically the country’s most populous southern city, Karachi, flooding streets and roads and forcing millions of people to seek dry land to settle.
Until last week, the authorities had confirmed at least 340 deaths as a result of the storms, although, according to the National Disaster Management Agency, it warned that this figure could increase.
