President Joe Biden’s administration on Friday ordered $270 million in military aid to Ukraine, the 16th relief package for Ukraine’s defense against Russian attacks since the february 24 invasion.
The shipment includes security assistance valued at up to 175 million dollars, as well as 95 million in funds from the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, known as USAI, the Pentagon detailed in the afternoon.
The aid includes four additional HIMARS missile systems and ammunition for them; 105mm ammunition cartridges and anti-armor weapons, among others.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken reported early Friday afternoon on his conversation with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba about recent visit to Washington DC of the first lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska.
The visit, stated the State in a written communication, made it possible to “recognize the human cost of Russia’s war” and deepen the US commitment to continue supporting Ukraine.
