MADRID 23 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The communication office of the Philippine Presidency has denounced this Saturday an “active threat” to the lives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his wife by the country’s vice president, Sara Duterte, who had given “orders to kill (the )” in case an alleged plot against him were successful.
“Acting on the Vice President’s clear and unequivocal statement that she had hired an assassin to kill the President if an alleged plot against her was successful, the Executive Secretary has referred this active threat to the Presidential Security Command for further action.” immediately,” the presidential communications department reported in a statement.
The Presidency has assured that they take any threat to the president’s life “seriously,” “even more so” when it is “publicly revealed in clear and certain terms.”
The note was published after Duterte acknowledged to the press the day before that he has hired an assassin to end the lives of Marcos and the first lady in case something bad happens to her.
“I spoke to someone. I told him that if they killed me, he had to kill Marcos Jr., (the first lady) Liza Araneta and (the deputy) Martín Romualdez. It’s not a joke. I already left instructions. I told him: If they kill me , don’t stop until you kill them. Then he said ‘yes,’ said the vice president in statements reported by the Philippine newspaper ‘The Manila Times’.
According to the same media, Duterte’s statements have their origin in the decision of a panel of the House of Representatives to transfer Zuleika López, the vice president’s chief of staff, to a penitentiary center in Mandaluyong.
