The US will sell up to 10 million barrels of oil from its emergency reserves

The US Department of Energy said on Monday it will sell up to 10 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, for delivery in November, extending the time frame of a plan to sell 180 million barrels of stockpiles in order to break global prices.

The plan of the administration of President Joe Biden, announced in March, aimed to sell 180 million barrels by the end of October. Only 155 million barrels have been sold so far and the next operation will bring the total up to 165 million barrels, the department said.
