The United States Embassy in Prague has reported this Thursday that Washington will deliver 200 million dollars (about 187 million euros) to the Government of the Czech Republic as compensation for the military supplies sent to Ukraine in the framework of the war, now close to ending. their first anniversary.
“The funds are intended to develop the capabilities of our Czech allies to deter and defend against the growing threat from Russia and to replace the military capabilities that the Czech Republic has provided or will provide to Ukraine,” US Ambassador Bijan Sabet explained. ‘Ceske Noviny’.
Sabet, the US diplomatic representative in Prague for just a few days, has also confirmed that he will soon hold meetings with some of the country’s main politicians, including the president, Milos Zeman, and the foreign minister, Jan Lipavsky.
The ambassador has stressed that security and the defense of Democracy will be some of the issues to be discussed, as well as his main priorities during the performance of his duties.
Last fall, the United States confirmed an economic package of 106 million dollars –close to one hundred million euros– for the Czech Republic.
