The United States government announced on Friday the composition of the high-level delegation that will participate in the Joint Strategic Dialogues with the government of Honduras, to be held in the Central American country between January 9 and 12.
This is a commission made up of senior officials from various US government agencies, headed by Uzra Zeya, the Undersecretary of State for Civil Security, Democracy and Human Rights, the State Department reported in a statement.
The so-called Strategic and Human Rights Dialogues between the United States and Honduras were launched in January 2022, regarding the attendance of Vice President Kamala Harris to the inauguration of President Xiomara Castro as head of the Honduran government.
The exchanges are expected to touch on issues related to “the protection of human rights defenders, gender violence and labor rights,” among others.
Accompanying Undersecretary Zeya, the head of the US Southern Command, Laura Richardson, as well as officials from the United States Agency for International Aid (USAID) and personnel from counternarcotics human rights offices and assistance to the immigrants.
