The EEYY Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, held a conversation this weekend with his Emirati counterpart, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nayan, about the current rise in tension in the Middle East after the clashes between Israel and Hamas over the emergence of Israeli security forces in the Esplanade of the Mosques in the middle of Ramadan.
“Secretary Blinken has urged calm throughout the region this season and stressed the urgency of de-escalating Israeli-Palestinian tensions,” the statement said.
Blinken and his counterpart have also discussed the evolution of the situation in Yemen, where a Saudi and Omani delegation is currently meeting to negotiate a possible peace agreement that could put an end to almost a decade of civil war, according to the note collected by the ‘Jerusalem Post’.
