The representative of the United States to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, will visit the Korean Demilitarized Zone between April 14 and 20 as part of her trip to Japan and South Korea, and during which she will participate in bilateral meetings and trilateral efforts to confront North Korea's “threats.”
During her stay in South Korea, the American diplomat will also meet with senior government officials to talk about the shared interests of Seoul and Washington in the UN Security Council, in addition to participating in a meeting with young North Koreans who have crossed towards the south, as reported by the spokesman for the United States Mission to the UN, Nate Evans.
In Japan, Thomas-Greenfield will also maintain contacts with senior government officials and meet with members of Japanese families who were kidnapped by North Korean authorities, in addition to visiting the city of Nagasaki.
Likewise, the parties will talk about Russia's veto and China's abstention in the UN Security Council regarding the renewal of the panel of experts on North Korea.
