8 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The North American Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, has rejected the possibility that Ukraine and Russia reach a ceasefire agreement that stops the hostilities since this would legitimize the conquest of Ukrainian territories.

“There are those who may consider the idea of a ceasefire tempting and I agree, but this implies the capture of a substantial part of Ukrainian territories by Russia and ratifies it in practice,” Blinken argued in an interview with the newspaper French ‘Ouest France’ and the German publishing group Funke.

“This would not be a just and lasting peace,” Blinken warned in the interview, while indicating that it would allow Russia to regroup troops and attack after a while.

“Russia must get to the point where it is willing to engage in constructive negotiations,” he said.
