The US Justice determines that Google is an Illegal Monopoly and recommends dividing the company

That Google is and behaves like a monopoly is something that many already take for granted. The company continually faces lawsuits and lawsuits that it loses throughout the world due to abuse its dominant position in the search market in order to force them to use the rest of their product catalogue.

Although in the beginning they used the motto “Don’t be Evil”, they soon left it behind by using strategies that demonstrated the opposite: The company has been accused of bribing manufacturers to end competition in Japan , have imposed fines for restricting the use of platforms other than their own, France sanctioned them for acting in bad faith in negotiations with third parties, South Korea fined them for abusing their dominant position, with fines for imposing the installation of its services on Android, the EU fined them billions for monopoly and the US has been involved in a macro monopoly investigation against the company for some time. We could continue, but we would not end today before the multitude of attitudes and tricks of Google that have been sanctioned by regulators, in fact, in the tag of “fines to technology companies”, they are the absolute protagonists.

Now, the search giant is facing one of the most serious processes in its history, a judicial process that could end up forcing Google to break up. The US Justice has determined that Google is an Illegal Monopoly, and now, the US Department of Justice has presented several recommendations so that action is taken against them. One of the recommendations is, precisely, the division of the company to end that monopoly.

We will have to wait until March 2025 to see the final proposal from the Department of Justice, after a review that will take place in November. Once this occurs, it could still take years for the division to become effective.
