The US Embassy in Pakistan issued a warning on Sunday about a possible attack on US citizens at the Marriott Hotel in the capital, Islamabad, “sometime during the Christmas holidays.”
In this sense, the US diplomatic legation has prohibited its staff from approaching the aforementioned hotel, as well as making “non-essential” and “unofficial” trips in the capital during the Christmas season, according to a statement from the Embassy.
It has also recommended that Americans remain vigilant when attending events or places of worship, carry identification at all times, and be aware of authorities and the local media.
The announcement comes days after a Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) suicide bombing in Islamabad killed a policeman and injured six others, security forces said on Friday.
