US forces destroy three rebel boats and drone in areas near Yemen
June 14 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The United States authorities have denounced this Friday the “malignant” and “reckless” behavior of the Yemeni Houthi rebels, whom they have accused of “threatening regional stability” after new attacks perpetrated against vessels in the Red Sea.
“This behavior endangers the lives of sailors throughout the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden,” lamented the Central Command of the United States Armed Forces (CENTCOM) in a statement in which it noted that “the Houthis say act for the benefit of Palestinians in Gaza and yet endanger the lives of third country citizens who have nothing to do with the conflict.
“We will continue working with our partners to ensure that the Houthis are not imposed and undermine their military capabilities,” the statement states, which also reports the destruction the previous day of a drone, an unmanned boat and two boats used by the Houthis to patrol work in areas near Yemen.
In this sense, he clarified that it has been determined that these systems pose an “imminent threat against the United States, coalition forces and merchant ships passing through the region.” “These actions seek to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer,” she stated.
He has also confirmed that the Houthis previously launched two ballistic missiles into the Red Sea from rebel-held areas in Yemen, an attack that resulted in no casualties. However, they claimed responsibility on Thursday for a series of attacks carried out with drones and missiles against three ships sailing through the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea in retaliation for the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip.
CENTCOM then stated that they launched two cruise missiles that hit the Polish-operated cargo ship ‘Verbena’, Ukrainian-owned and Palau-flagged, where a sailor was injured.
