The White House assures that “there was never” a message to warn about “the deadline, the objectives or the type of response”
April 16 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The White House Security Spokesperson, John Kirby, denied this Monday that the Iranian authorities transmitted an “early warning” of their attack on Saturday against Israeli territory and that, despite the exchange of messages, they never even gave the “moment” nor the “objectives” of it.
“I have seen Iran say that they gave an early warning to help Israel prepare its defenses and limit any potential damage. All of this is categorically false. (…) This attack failed because it was defeated by Israel, by the United States and by a coalition of other partners committed to the defense of Israel,” Kirby highlighted during a press conference.
In that sense, he assured that Tehran intended to cause “great destruction and casualties”, and that the attack “ended up failing” despite launching more than 350 attack drones, ballistic missiles and cruise missiles.
“There was never any message to us or to anyone about the deadline, the objectives or the type of response,” the spokesperson insisted.
For his part, State Department spokesman Matthew Miller has also denied that Tehran gave 72 hours' notice of the start of the attack, as the Iranian Foreign Minister, Hosein Amirabdolahian, had previously assured.
