The US confirms that the delivery of humanitarian aid through the temporary Gaza dock has resumed

June 9 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Central Command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM) announced this Saturday the resumption of the flow of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, after the waves dismantled part of the structure of the temporary dock installed to provide assistance to the Palestinian enclave.

“Today, at approximately 10:30 a.m. (Gaza time), the United States Central Command (USCENTCOM) has begun the delivery of humanitarian assistance ashore in Gaza.”

Assistance to the Gazan population has resumed with the shipment of “a total of approximately 492 metric tons of much-needed humanitarian assistance,” bringing to more than 1,573 metric tons of humanitarian aid delivered by the US military to date. CENTCOM has noted, however, that “no US military personnel have landed in Gaza.”

“This ongoing effort in support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to deliver additional aid to Palestinian civilians in Gaza is entirely humanitarian in nature and involves aid products donated by several countries and humanitarian organizations,” The US Armed Forces have added.

The temporary port installed by the United States was damaged at the end of May, a few days after its completion, as a result of strong waves that caused at least two American ships to run aground after an “unfortunate confluence of weather storms” in the area.

According to the provisional agreement, shipments to the dock built by the Biden Administration arrive through the maritime corridor opened in March from Cyprus to attempt aid to Gaza in the face of the restrictions imposed by Israel on land crossings.
