The US asks Mexico for two reviews for alleged violation of labor rights

On April 11, Mexico informed the United States of its acceptance of a review request received on April 1 of this year, which refers to an alleged denial of the rights of free association and collective bargaining in the company Servicios Industriales González, located in Nuevo León. .

And on April 12, it also admitted another review request submitted regarding a possible denial of free association and collective bargaining rights at Minera Tizapa, located in Zacazonapan, State of Mexico.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS) has a period of 45 days, counted from the date on which each request was received, to carry out an internal review to determine the existence or not, of denials of labor rights. in the aforementioned companies.

“If these violations are confirmed, corrective actions will be taken to repair them. The Government of Mexico reiterates its commitment to effectively implement labor legislation and the provisions of the T-MEC, thus ensuring compliance and protection of the collective rights of workers. the working people of the country,” said the Ministry of Economy in a statement.
