The United States Department of State has announced the shipment of a new package valued at 380 million dollars (about 341 million euros) in humanitarian assistance for Africa.
“The United States is proud to announce $380 million in new humanitarian assistance for the millions of refugees, internally displaced, and conflict-affected people in Africa,” Secretary of State Antony Blinken posted on his Twitter account.
According to a statement from the department itself, the United States has already sent 4,000 million dollars (about 3,590 million euros) of humanitarian aid to Africa so far this year, which would make it “the country that provides the most humanitarian aid in all of the world”.
“Our aid provides urgent life-saving support, including shelter, clean water, sanitation and hygiene, health care and psychosocial and mental health services, education and protection for vulnerable people such as children, survivors of gender-based violence and people with disabilities,” reads the statement.
Finally, he has assured that the United States will continue to have “a leading role” in humanitarian issues both in Africa and in the rest of the world.
