The aircraft carrier left South Korean waters last week after taking part in a joint exercise between Seoul and Washington from September 26-29.

“This shows the resolute will of the ROK-U.S. alliance to strengthen the preparedness posture… to respond resolutely to any provocation or threat from North Korea,” the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff said. , as reported by the Yonhap news agency.

As indicated by the South Korean authorities, this action has been taken in consultation with the defense ministers, after the launch of a North Korean ballistic missile on Tuesday morning that flew over Japan and forced the Japanese to take refuge.
