June 1 () –
The United States Government has announced a new military aid package for Ukraine, number 39 since the start of the war, which includes a disbursement of 300 million dollars (more than 280 million euros) in weapons.
The president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, has thanked the North American country for the help, which he considers to be “extremely important and timely to protect the Ukrainian sky from missiles and Russian terror.”
He has also celebrated the “irremovable” US support and has celebrated the “strength” of bilateral relations between the two countries, as indicated on his official account on the social network Twitter.
The new aid package, announced hours earlier by the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, includes “significant anti-aircraft defense capabilities, additional ammunition for high-mobility artillery rocket systems, anti-tank weapons, tens of millions of rounds of ammunition for small arms and other essential field equipment”.
In addition, during a press conference, the White House National Security Adviser, John Kirby, assured that the new aid is given in response to the recent Russian attacks on Ukrainian soil, especially in the capital, which in recent weeks It has received numerous air attacks, mostly blocked precisely by the air defense systems donated by the Americans.
For Kirby, this continued aid is a clear example of the efforts resulting from the meetings of the G7 leaders during the Summit in Hiroshima, Japan, where the Ukrainian president also appeared by surprise and as a special guest.
