The United States is committed to "promoting European energy security" after the leak in Nord Stream

Sep. 28 () –

The Secretary of State of the United States, Antony Blinken, held a telephone conversation on Tuesday with his Danish counterpart, Jeppe Kofod, with whom he has promised to promote European energy security after the apparent sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipeline.

“The United States stands united with its allies and partners in its commitment to promoting European energy security,” State Department spokesman Ned Price said of the conversation between Blinken and Kofod.

During the afternoon of Monday, the Danish authorities detected a gas leak in one of the sections of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline on the Danish island of Bornholm. Hours later, the Nord Stream 1 submarine gas pipeline detected a drop in the pressure of the gas from Russia sent to Germany and that affects the two lines of the pipeline.

Denmark, Norway, Poland or the United States suspect that the leaks could be the result of acts of sabotage. In this sense, seismologists from Sweden have gone further and have confirmed explosions in the area hours before the leaks were confirmed.
