The United States announced this Wednesday an extraordinary allocation of 756 million dollars (757 million euros) in humanitarian assistance to Syria, in order to continue its “unwavering support” to the Syrian people.

“US assistance benefits many of the 14.6 million people inside Syria in need of humanitarian assistance, as well as 5.6 million Syrian refugees and generous host communities in Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Egypt,” has added.
Still, the United States has emphasized the importance of “unhindered access” for humanitarian actors throughout Syria, and has called for compliance with the UN’s cross-border humanitarian aid mechanism, a “lifeline for millions inside Syria.” .
Thomas-Greenfield has ensured that deliveries of humanitarian material across borders guarantee vital aid, as they include food, medicine and other “relief supplies”.
In this sense, he thanked the countries that continue to “generously” receive Syrian refugees, and highlighted the danger of the “premature or coerced” return of refugees to Syria and prohibited by international law.
“The United States remains the world’s largest humanitarian donor to the Syrian people… After more than a decade of conflict, the needs of displaced Syrians remain dire. The international community must come together to ensure continuity of financing,” said the permanent representative of the United States to the UN.
“Only a political solution can end more than a decade of loss and suffering in Syria, as well as provide all Syrians with the security, stability, and prosperity they deserve. America’s support for the Syrian people remains steadfast.” aggregate.
