MADRID 14 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The United Kingdom authorities have announced this Monday a new set of sanctions against the Iranian military and companies linked to the manufacture of missiles in response to the “continued dangerous and destabilizing activity” of Tehran in the Middle East, especially after the missile attack at the beginning October against Israel.
Specifically, the United Kingdom has banned the commander-in-chief of the Iranian Army, Abdolrahim Mousavi, and his ‘number two’, Mohamad-Hosein Dadras, from entering the country and freezing their assets abroad; to the commander of the Air Force, Hamid Vahedi; to the head of Intelligence of the Revolutionary Guard, Mohamed Kazemi, and to the head of the Iranian General Staff, Habibollah Sayari, among others.
Along with these people, London has also directed its sanctions against the company Farzanegan Propulsion Systems Design Buraeu (FPSDB), in charge of designing and manufacturing engine technology for cruise missiles, and the Iranian Space Agency, which develops technologies that can be used also for the development of ballistic missiles.
The United Kingdom Foreign Minister, David Lammy, has highlighted that, “despite repeated warnings”, the Iranian authorities have continued with their “dangerous actions.” “After the ballistic missile attack against Israel, we are holding Iran to account and exposing those who facilitated these acts,” he said, according to a statement from British diplomacy.
The United Kingdom has already imposed more than 400 sanctions against Iran, including against the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a whole and against “many” of those responsible for the recent attack on Israel. Thus, London has assured that it will continue working with its partners to hold Iran accountable for “its attempts to undermine global security.”
