The United Kingdom notes that Russia has redoubled its offensive against Kupiansk, a strategic point in the Ukrainian war

British Military Intelligence has confirmed that Russian forces have in recent days intensified their offensive against the strategic Ukrainian city of Kupiansk, in the northeastern region of Kharkiv.

Kupiansk, a city Ukraine regained control of in September 2022, serves as a transportation junction and logistics hub for a major part of the Eastern Front.

The latest assessment by the British Ministry of Defense notes at least one Russian infiltration attempt on November 13 from the northwest of the city and recalled that the Ukrainian Army General Staff had reported at that time up to “four successive waves” of Russian attacks in the area.

London also confirms that Russian forces have reached the Oskil River, south of the city, which has led to the suspension of Ukrainian logistical supply lines on the east bank of the river.

To this we must add that another Russian outpost south of the city “has gradually expanded as Russia increases pressure against Ukrainian forces in the area,” according to the assessment published this Sunday.

The Russian Defense Ministry recalls that the Ukrainian authorities ordered civilians in the city and surrounding towns in mid-October to immediately begin an evacuation procedure.
