Mikati holds meetings with international leaders to achieve an end to the attacks

The British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, has discussed with his Lebanese counterpart, Nayib Mikati, the importance of achieving a ceasefire in the Middle East, where the increase in tension has led Israeli forces to carry out several waves of bombings against positions in Lebanon, attacks that have resulted in almost 700 deaths to date.
Starmer, who has conveyed to Mikati his “most sincere condolences” for the “loss of human life during these last weeks”, has spoken of the growing violence registered in Lebanon, especially in the south of the country, according to a Government statement. British.
The two leaders met in New York within the framework of the session of the United Nations General Assembly, where they agreed on the need to achieve a “negotiated solution” to the Lebanese issue and the situation in the Gaza Strip. where more than 41,500 people have already died since the Israeli offensive began almost a year ago.
Mikati, for his part, has increased bilateral contacts and meetings with leaders and representatives at the international level, in an attempt to achieve an end to the attacks against Lebanese territory.
Thus, he met with the Secretary General of the UN, António Guterres, with whom he discussed the importance of implementing resolution 1701 of the organization and the “contribution of the international forces that worked under the umbrella of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) with the aim of maintaining stability”.
Furthermore, he has asked for “urgent” support from the UN to humanitarian organizations working in Lebanon, while insisting that “it is still possible to avoid war”, according to information from the Lebanese newspaper ‘An Nahar’.
