The UN Security Council extends the mission in Afghanistan for a year

The United Nations Security Council has approved this Thursday the extension of the Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) for one year, until March 17, 2024.

The extension has been unanimously approved along with another resolution on Afghanistan, which calls on the UN Secretary General, António Guterres, to carry out an independent investigation that will provide an integrated and coherent plan to deal with the situation in the country with the help of the international community.
