The UK intelligence has pointed to a “realistic possibility” that the Russian military is attempting to take vuhledar to obtain “own successes” in their “competition” with the mercenary company Wagner Group, which is leading the offensive against the city of Bakhmut. “There is a realistic possibility that the Russian Defense Ministry will be insistent in its push for a success at Vuhledar in part because it wants its own successes to compete with the achievements of the Wagner Group,” he said, before noting that “the only successes Recent notable Moscow tactics have taken place in the Bakhmut sector”. Thus, he stated that this sector “is dominated by the mercenary forces of the Wagner Group, which participates in a public fight with the Russian Defense Ministry”, staged in various criticisms by the owner of the Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, against the portfolio around the ammunition supply for the offensive. On the other hand, British Intelligence has stressed that “Russian attempts to assault Vuhledar have slowed down over the last week after repeated and extremely costly attacks over the past three months.” And he added: “One of the factors in the large losses suffered by Russia in this sector derives from the successful adoption by Ukraine of the Remote Anti-Armor Mine System (RAAM). The RAAM is a specialized artillery projectile that launches anti-armor mines at distances of up to 17 kilometers from the firing unit”. In this sense, he has specified that “in some cases, Ukraine has launched the mines above and to the rear of the Russian units in their advance, causing chaos as Russian vehicles attempted to withdraw.”
