kyiv, Oct. 14 (DPA/EP) –

Ukraine’s military authorities reported this Friday that the country’s Armed Forces have nearly 40,000 women in their ranks.

This has been confirmed by the lieutenant general of the High Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Segei Naev, who has pointed out that 5,000 of them are in the front line.

According to the Ukrainian representative, all jobs within the Army are open to women, who hold high positions such as commanders of artillery units.

On previous occasions, the President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky, has estimated that military women constitute 22 percent of the Ukrainian Army.

It is estimated that at the start of the war, ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin in late February, the Ukrainian Armed Forces numbered about 200,000 members.
