The United Kingdom Foreign Minister, David Lammy, has held telephone conversations with the Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, and his Israeli counterpart, Israel Katz, whom he has “put pressure” on to avoid an escalation of violence.
“Today I had important calls with the Israeli Foreign Minister, Israel Katz, and with the Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi. The United Kingdom continues to press for de-escalation and an end to the conflicts in Lebanon and Gaza,” he indicated. in a message posted to his X account.
“A regional war would be catastrophic and is in no one’s interest,” Lammy added in his publication.
At least five people have died due to the Israeli bombing of military targets in Iran early Saturday morning. The Israeli attack is in retaliation for the attack with Iranian missiles and drones on October 1, a consequence in turn of another Israeli attack.
