( Spanish) – The Taiwanese company Foxconn, manufacturer and supplier of electronic products for companies such as Apple, will install a new superchip plant in Jalisco, in western Mexico, confirmed the state governor, Enrique Alfaro.
Foxconn made the announcement on Tuesday in Taipei, where Benjamin Ting, senior vice president of the company, reported that they will install in Mexico their “largest plant on the planet” of GB200 superchips for the company Nvidia, according to a report from the Reuters agency.
The GB200 superchip is a processor for data centers that run artificial intelligence applications, Nvidia explains on its official site.
Achieving this investment took Jalisco three years, the state governor said on his social networks.
“This great news means a before and after in the electronics industry and gives meaning to all our efforts in the Jalisco Tech Hub Act public policy,” added Alfaro.
Foxconn is the world’s largest contract electronics manufacturer and one of Apple’s largest suppliers, primarily responsible for the assembly of iPhone phones.
