In February, Evernote fired 129 people from the organization, because “the company has not been profitable for years and the situation was unsustainable in the long term,” a spokesperson confirmed to TechCrunch.
Although the company did not detail the number of jobs that were eliminated in this latest cut, it added that it will offer support for affected employees, which includes 16 weeks of salary, up to a year of health insurance and a performance bonus, paid based on on the objectives they have achieved during the year.
Throughout its history, Evernote has had significant ups and downs. Launched in 2008, it soon gained popularity as one of the first apps to explore note taking on the device.
However, in the mid-2010s it entered a spiral of controversy between errors in its application, strong competition with new platforms, price increases, and privacy policies that were strongly criticized by users.
